Accepting Christianity may be considered as too easy, like learning Spanish.
There are 138 words most commonly used in the Spanish language. That's about 10 words per month or 1 per day for 138 days or 4.5 months. And many of those use English words ending in -ate or -tion can be changed to Spanish by changing the ending: -ate to -ar, or -tion changes to -cion. It is that easy. A visual remembering system can present vocabulary in a minute or less. For example, bread is baked in a pan. The Mexican word for bread is pan. The Mexican bakeries known in every town in Mexico as panders. Easy comes to mind. Yet not everybody learns. Why?
The President of the United States, George W. Bush, the governors of Arkansas, Arizona, and New Mexico wanted to communicate with the Latinos, so they learned Spanish. It is Easy. If one owns a store or provides a service, learning Spanish increases service to these Spanish speaking customers. Easy. Spanish (Mexican) especially northern Mexico, which uses words that reflect the North Mexican culture, makes Spanish easy. Easier than English. Many speak better English, than Spanish, because they study English. English in America means more money, and an English vocabulary contains many more words and describe things more specifically. Although Spanish should be written and spoken with Spanish grammar, the words carry more weight than grammar The conclusion --- no grammar in Spanish. Easy! Why don't folks learn Spanish, open their horizons, enjoy their trips, understand those that haven't learned English ?
Two reasons come to mind. First, many Americans choose not to submit to the Mexican culture. Learning Spanish, no longer would require English. Beautiful words would be lost. Grandmother, sunset, moon glow, and fence slats, etc. would disappear.
The second reason: Too easy. It must not be good, if too easy. I can't believe that in no time I will speak the Spanish language. Too easy means no work, no labor, no sweat, blood and tears. Too easy.
Many feel that becoming a Christian is too easy. No blood, sweat, tears required. Say a prayer, talk to God (He may exist). Too easy. They think, If I want to repent and change my way of doing things, there must be more involved. Two thoughts come to mind. Cleaning up my life, ,and if is so easy, why not do it later. Anytime. Best not to think about it now. Sounds too easy - have too think about it. Don't have time right now.
True, all the work has been done for you by Jesus Christ. He shed His blood, sweat in the Garden of Gethsemane, and wept over all who would ignore His message. Not easy for Him; easy for us. What is necessary to appropriate His work in to our lives? Something's required?
Submission and repentance make the difference. Submission to God (He does exists) in our life. A change in operation - God in control - He eliminates sinful behavior and ungodly activities. God gives His amazing power to accomplish this change in our lives. Without God, pleasing Him is impossible. Someone has said, that if we have God's will in our lives today; we will have God's will in our lives tomorrow. So, if we live for God today; we will live for God tomorrow. Asking Jesus into our heart establishes His presence, and gives the power we need to defeat sinful behavior. When we ask, we believe, and we know that He, not us, will lead. Not easy to make these decisions, or to follow Him. Not easy at all.
Here is the prayer, just in case someone reading this has thought saying the prayer was easy, and did not do it yet. Saying this prayer with an understanding heart, acknowledging Him, and submitting to His leadership will bring all the joy available in this lifetime.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to you a sinner, and ask you to be my Savior. Come into my heart to lead me and guide me today,
and forever. Amen.
Want to remember asking Jesus into your heart? Do two things:
1. Tell somebody.
2. Drive a stake in the ground where you will always see it.
